On the first Monday of the month players from the orchestra and their guests perform short lunchtime concerts at The Atkinson on Lord Street commencing at 1.00pm. So why not take a 45-minute break for some easy listening over a cup of tea or coffee?

An evocative, bold and romantic new work that explores through music what it is like to have a nagging thought you cannot escape from.
Borodin String Quartet No. 2 in D major
Written in 1881 and said to have been dedicated to Borodin’s wife Ekaterina Protopova as a 20th anniversary gift evoking the couple’s first meeting in Heidelberg. You will recognise the famous third movement ‘Notturno’.
